How GAMSAT registration works

Registration takes about twenty minutes and is entirely ACER’s. The part worth reading in advance is what happens afterwards, because most of it is irreversible and the rest has a price.

There is one place to do it: gamsat.acer.org/registration. We are not affiliated with ACER, we cannot register you, and no third party can register on your behalf.

What the process involves

An ACER account, a declaration, a set of choices, and a card payment.

An account, then a registration. These are separate steps, and only one registration per person is permitted per cycle. Creating a second account to register twice results in the duplicates being cancelled.
A declaration that you are a genuine applicant to a course requiring GAMSAT. See eligibility — it also covers the conflict-of-interest rule that can get a registration cancelled.
Your name, exactly as it appears on your photo ID. A mismatch is a problem on test day rather than at registration, which is the worst time to find it.
Country, test centre, date and session. Changing any of these after standard registrations close attracts the same fee as late registration.
Payment in full, by card. Mastercard or Visa only, processed through Stripe. Fees are charged in Australian dollars for anyone sitting outside Ireland and the UK.

One thing the fee quietly includes: a copy of the online Practice Test A e-book. It is ACER’s own material, and it is the only official practice content most candidates get without buying anything further. Do not overlook it and then pay for it separately.

Changing your mind, and what each version costs

Three different outcomes — refund, deferral, or losing the fee — separated by dates rather than by circumstances.

The 14-day rule is the one to remember. ACER refunds the registration fee in full if you ask within 14 days of registering. After that, and up to the close of late registrations, an administration fee is deducted. After late registrations close, refunds are available only inside that same 14-day window — so if you registered early and changed your mind in week six, there is no refund at all.

ACER 2026 fee schedule. These are administration fees charged on top of, or deducted from, the registration fee — the registration fee itself is on our cost page. Late fees cannot be waived.

Deferral is a one-time option, and only to the next March or September sitting — not to a date of your choosing and not twice. If you defer, your access to the included preparation material runs for 12 months from your original registration date, not from the new sitting.

The deadlines that fall before test day

Registrations open in a month, not on a date

ACER states plainly: “Registrations open during the advised month, it is not possible to provide a specific date.” Any site publishing an exact opening day is guessing.

Four deadlines sit between opening and test day, and three of them are not the one people watch:

Standard registrations close. This is also the deadline for reasonable adjustments applications and for Alternate Delivery requests — not a later date, the same one.
Late registrations close. The hard stop. ACER: “All venue and remote proctoring arrangements are finalised at the close of late registrations. No registrations will be accepted after this deadline; there is no wait-list for seats.” It is also the last day to request a refund or a deferral.
The remote-session self-reschedule deadline, about a week before the Written Communication sitting. After it, rescheduling is no longer self-service.
Admission tickets release, roughly two weeks before the test-centre window. None is issued for the remote sitting.

The actual dates change every cycle and we keep them in exactly one place, so they cannot drift: GAMSAT dates and deadlines.

Reasonable adjustments do not carry over

An approved adjustment applies to that sitting only. You must reapply for every sitting, and an approval does not transfer if you defer. Outcomes are notified approximately two to three weeks before the first test window.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I actually register for the GAMSAT?

Only at gamsat.acer.org/registration. ACER administers GAMSAT on behalf of GEMPASS Australia; no prep provider or third party can register you.

Can I get my registration fee back?

In full, if you request it within 14 days of registering. After that, an administration fee is deducted, and once late registrations have closed refunds are only possible inside that original 14-day window.

Can I move my registration to the next sitting?

Once, and only to the following March or September sitting, for an administration fee. Deferral requests must be in before late registrations close.

What if I miss the registration deadline?

You sit the next cycle. ACER operates no wait-list and accepts no registrations after late registrations close, because venue and remote proctoring arrangements are finalised at that point.

Does the registration fee include any practice material?

Yes — a copy of the online Practice Test A e-book is included. It is worth using before buying anything else, since it is ACER’s own material.
