GAMSAT remote proctoring

This split has a practical consequence that gets overlooked when people plan their preparation: the last three weeks before the second sitting belong entirely to Sections 1 and 3. Written Communication is already done and cannot be revisited.

Alternate Delivery is an exception to a default that is physical: Sections 1 and 3 are test-centre sections, sat in Australia, Ireland, the UK, New Zealand or Singapore. ACER grants Alternate Delivery on two grounds:

• You live more than three hours’ drive from a test centre, or
• There is no test centre in your country at all.

Both require notarised documentation. Preferring to sit at home is not a ground, and applications are assessed rather than granted on request.

This matters more than it used to. Because remote delivery exists, candidates outside the five countries with test centres can now sit GAMSAT at all — which is why the pool of people taking it is wider than the centre map suggests. See international applicants.

Supervision runs through ProctorU. You are watched by camera for the duration, your screen is monitored, and your room may be inspected before you begin.

The writing surface itself replicates nothing you are used to. There is no spellcheck, no autocorrect, and no copy or paste. Candidates who draft in a word processor during preparation and then meet a bare text field on the day consistently report it as a shock. Practising in the same conditions is worth more than it sounds.

ACER has also stated that spelling and punctuation errors will not affect your score, so the absence of a spellchecker is less punishing than it first appears. Grammar is assessed, but through effectiveness rather than as a separate mark.

Missing a remote sitting without withdrawing carries a fee of A$150 / €90 / £76. It applies to the remote component specifically. Rescheduling fees exist as well, but ACER does not publish their amounts and we will not estimate them.
