Keele University: GAMSAT requirements
Keele publishes a sliding pair of minimums — 55 overall with Section 3 at 58, or 58 overall with Section 3 at 55 — and requires the UCAT as well.
- 55Minimum overall to apply
- 50Minimum in each section
- —No GPA minimum published
- 1:1:2ACER weighted overall
Every figure on this page is a number to compare yourself against, which is difficult to do without a score of your own. Our GAMSAT practice test is free, timed and marked section by section, so you can find out where you currently stand against Keele’s requirements before you spend a cycle applying to it.
What is distinctive about Keele
Keele’s requirement is a published minimum rather than a ranked cutoff, and it comes in two interchangeable forms: 55 overall if Section 3 is at least 58, or 58 overall if Section 3 is at least 55. Both apply to 2026/2027 entry.
The structure tells you what Keele is protecting. Section 3 is the science section, and both versions of the rule insist on at least 55 in it. An overall built on strong Sections 1 and 2 will not satisfy Keele however high it goes.
Because these are fixed minimums they do not drift with the applicant pool the way a cutoff does — but meeting one does not make you competitive either. It makes you eligible.
The UCAT is required in addition to the GAMSAT, which rules Keele out for anyone planning to sit only one admissions test. Entry is a first or 2:1 in any subject, and postgraduate qualifications are not considered.

How Keele scores the GAMSAT
This institution uses ACER's published overall score.
| Scoring method | Formula used | What that means for you |
|---|---|---|
| ACER's weighted overall score | (S1 + S2 + 2 × S3) ÷ 4 | The overall score printed on your ACER statement of results. Section 3 counts double. This is the default across the market, which is exactly why the institutions that depart from it catch people out. |
Keele does not publish how the GAMSAT is weighted against the rest of the application. Not published is the honest answer; we do not estimate it.
Every figure this institution publishes
Each figure carries the kind of number it is and the year it applies to. They are not interchangeable.
- 55Minimum to apply2026/2027 entryWith Section 3 ≥58
A floor to be eligible to apply. Meeting it does not make you competitive.
- 58Minimum to apply2026/2027 entryWith Section 3 ≥55
A floor to be eligible to apply. Meeting it does not make you competitive.
Keele publishes 2 separate figures. Quoting one of them as “the Keele cutoff” without naming which is how the wrong number ends up in circulation.

Common questions about Keele
Does Keele publish a GAMSAT cutoff?
No. Keele publishes 55 (minimum to apply, 2026/2027 entry) and 58 (minimum to apply, 2026/2027 entry), which is a different kind of figure. Read it as context, not as a bar to clear.
What GAMSAT score do you need to apply to Keele?
An overall score of at least 55, and at least 50 in each section. No GPA minimum is published. These are eligibility floors. Meeting them does not make you competitive.
Does Keele use the weighted or unweighted GAMSAT score?
ACER's weighted overall score — (S1 + S2 + 2 × S3) ÷ 4. The overall score printed on your ACER statement of results. Section 3 counts double. This is the default across the market, which is exactly why the institutions that depart from it catch people out.
