What comparing all 33 actually shows

The useful findings here are not the individual numbers. They are the patterns that only appear once every institution is on one page.

11 of the 33 do not use ACER’s weighted overall score. That is the figure printed on your statement of results, and a third of this list ignores it. Melbourne says outright that it “does not use the GAMSAT ‘overall score’ in selection”. UQ averages the three sections. Sydney ranks on section scores with no overall at all. Wollongong never ranks the test in the first place. Four more institutions never say which score they use, and we mark those unverified rather than assume.

Most published numbers are not cutoffs.A cutoff is the lowest score actually admitted. A minimum is a floor to be eligible. An interviewee average is the mean of a cohort, about half of whom sat below it. A median has an admitted floor that can be far lower — UQ’s median of 65.33 sits above an admitted range that started at 51.66. Every figure on this site carries a badge saying which kind it is, because printed in one column they invert the real ordering: Ulster’s 59 is an average, City St George’s 56 is a genuine cutoff, and the 56 is the harder number.

11 pathways admit with no GAMSAT score at all — Indigenous entry streams, rural training pathways, graduate-partnership routes. They are documented almost nowhere. If you might be eligible for one, it is worth more than any amount of preparation advice.

The weighted and unweighted figures are identical only when Section 3 happens to be exactly the average of Sections 1 and 2. For everyone else they differ, sometimes by several points — which is why a 50 at ScotGEM and a 50 at Swansea are not the same achievement.

Eligibility is decided by the university, not by a score

These pathways have specific criteria — Indigenous identity, rural origin, a particular undergraduate degree, or a first-preference commitment. Contact the university directly rather than ruling yourself out from a summary. This is the least documented corner of GAMSAT admissions.

Courses wrongly assumed to use the GAMSAT

All three appear on ACER's own institution list. None of them uses the test.

A fourth error sits on the same list: ACER still names the University of Nottingham, which has moved to the UCAT for 2027 entry and does not appear anywhere on this site.

Australia — 13 institutions

The largest market and the least transparent one. Most Australian schools publish medians, interviewee averages or nothing at all — only Flinders publishes genuine cutoffs.

United Kingdom — 16 institutions

The most transparent market. Several UK schools publish real cutoffs, and City St George’s publishes an eleven-year series of them. Several also accept non-graduates.

The University of Plymouth appears twice: its medicine and dentistry courses have separate requirements and separate cutoffs. ScotGEM is a single programme delivered jointly by St Andrews and Dundee.

Ireland — 4 institutions

Four institutions, all publishing something — but the figures mix admitted cutoffs with interview-invitation minimums, and the MCAT alternatives apply only to non-EU applicants.

How to read any of these pages

Check the badge before the number. Actual cutoff, minimum to apply, interviewee average and admitted median are four different measurements. Only the first tells you where the bar sat.
Check the year.Cutoffs move annually with the applicant pool. City St George’s moved 56 → 54 → 56 across three consecutive cycles.
Check the scoring method. Comparing an unweighted 50 against a weighted 50 compares two different quantities.
Check the sub-quota. Flinders publishes four cutoffs spanning 18 points for the same course in the same year.
Believe the university over us.Where our data and an institution’s own page disagree, the university is right. Please tell us when that happens.
