What GAMSAT prep actually costs

Every figure below the exam fee is discretionary spending on something the exam body does not endorse. That is not an argument against buying anything — plenty of it is useful — but it should change how you read a A$5,499 price tag and the word “guarantee” next to it.

• GST. GradReady states its prices exclude 10% GST. A$999 becomes A$1,098.90; A$5,499 becomes A$6,048.90. That is not a small rounding difference at the top of the ladder.
• Permanent “early bird”.GradReady labels its prices early-bird, Gold Standard shows Platinum as A$2,499 against a A$2,999 list price (“save $500”), and Des O’Neill shows A$1,000 “from A$1,400”. Discounting that never ends is a list price, not a discount. Do not let a countdown change your decision.
• Access duration.This is the hidden second half of the price. Fraser’s Essentials gives 4 months or until the next sitting, whichever is longer; its Mock Exams product covers one sitting only. Gold Standard gives one year. Griffiths states no time limit at all. GradReady does not disclose access duration on its pricing page — for a A$5,499 product, that is a material gap, and we could not fill it from any public source. Ask before you buy.

The word does a lot of work in this market and it means something different every time. Read these as written, not as advertised.

Not advice about your situation, which we know nothing about. Just the order we would spend in, given the evidence above.

• First, the exam fee. A$568, £296 or €378. Non-negotiable and non-refundable.
• Second, nothing.Work the free tiers: ACER’s free Practice Test A, GradMed’s 300+ free past questions, Gold Standard’s free practice test and worked solutions, Medify’s free plan, GradReady’s free trial. That is several weeks of material at zero cost, and it tells you where you are actually weak.
• Third, ACER’s paid practice tests. Whatever they cost inside the portal, they are the only real questions and the cheapest meaningful purchase you will make.
• Fourth, one paid system if you still need one. On price against content, that is Griffiths at £167 — lifetime access, a genuine refund term — or Medify at £30 a month if you only want drilling volume. Neither pays us anything.
• Only then, a four-figure course — and only for what a book cannot do: essays marked by a human, live teaching of science you have never studied, or imposed structure you know you need. If you are buying a A$5,000 tier for its question bank, you are paying roughly five times over for something a £30 subscription supplies.

The first reason is reputation. The most visible comment on the r/GAMSAT thread about AceGAMSAT reads “Acegamsat is s scam, please do not purchase”, with around 35 upvotes. Reddit was blocked to our research crawler, so that reached us via search snippets and is not independently verified by us — but it is more than enough to decline.

The second reason is the contract. AceGAMSAT’s affiliate terms require that “Affiliates must behave in a positive manner at all times when referring customers to AceGAMSAT”, and allow cancellation at any time without notice. No page that has signed that can also be an independent price comparison. Ours has not.

This matters on a cost page specifically, because the economics explain the market you are shopping in. Percentage commissions reward whoever sends you to the most expensive thing. If a “comparison” site ranks courses in roughly descending order of price, ask what it is paid.

• GradMed (gamsat.co.uk and gamsat.ie). No price is published on either domain; both route to a prospectus request. A UK-versus-Ireland comparison cannot be completed from public sources.
• ACER practice-material prices. The ~A$45 and ~A$27 figures are third-party sourced and the portal requires an account.
• GradReady access durations and the exact contents of its free trial are not disclosed.
• Medify’s free-tier contents are not itemised.
• Medic Mind’s two-hour introductory lesson was advertised at both A$140 and A$199 on the same day. Treat it as promotional and unstable. Its UK site publishes no GBP prices at all.
• AceGAMSAT’s individual title prices are not listed.
• Medify moved. Our own earlier research in July 2026 recorded £49.99 per month; the live page on 28 July 2026 shows £30 per month. We do not know whether that is a cut or a repackaging. Do not rely on the older figure quoted elsewhere.
