What is distinctive about UQ
UQ’s 65.33 is the most misquoted number in Australian graduate medicine. It is the medianof the 2023–2025 admitted cohort. The admitted range ran from 51.66 to 81.00 — so quoting the median as a cutoff overstates the actual admitted floor by roughly fourteen points.
UQ also uses the unweighted score, in its own words “an average of the three sections rounded to six decimal places”. Anyone comparing UQ’s figures against a weighted overall from another school is comparing two different measurements.
The MD splits 50:50 unweighted GAMSAT to GPA, with GPA as the tiebreaker. The DMD is the outlier of this entire dataset: unweighted GAMSAT 70% plus SJT 30%. Nowhere else does the GAMSAT carry that much of the decision.
Rural applicants take 28.5% of places and receive two adjustments added directly onto the unweighted average. Indigenous MD applicants are not required to sit the GAMSAT at all, and Indigenous DMD applicants who meet the minimums are offered a place.

Pathways where the GAMSAT is waived entirely
UQ admits through a pathway that require no GAMSAT score at all.

Eligibility for these pathways is decided by UQ, not by a score, and the criteria are specific. If you may qualify, contact the university directly — this is the least-documented part of GAMSAT admissions anywhere, and it is not something to rule yourself out of on the basis of a summary.

Places are not one undifferentiated pool. These quotas change which list you are ranked in.

What GAMSAT score do you need to apply to UQ?
