Flinders University: GAMSAT requirements
Flinders is the only Australian medical school publishing genuine GAMSAT cutoffs — four of them, spanning 18 points across its sub-quotas.
- —No overall minimum published
- 50Minimum in each section
- 5.00Minimum GPA to apply
- 1:1:2ACER weighted overall
Every figure on this page is a number to compare yourself against, which is difficult to do without a score of your own. Our GAMSAT practice test is free, timed and marked section by section, so you can find out where you currently stand against Flinders’s requirements before you spend a cycle applying to it.
What is distinctive about Flinders
Flinders does what no other Australian school does: it publishes real cutoffs, meaning the lowest score actually taken, and it publishes one for each sub-quota. For 2026 entry that is 74 standard, 69 rural at Bedford Park, 63 for Flinders graduates and 56 on the humanitarian visa quota. Eighteen points of spread inside a single institution.
The practical consequence is that “the Flinders cutoff” is a meaningless phrase without naming the quota. Applicants routinely see the 74, rule themselves out, and never find out they were sitting inside a sub-quota with a bar eleven or eighteen points lower.
There is no minimum overall score to apply. That is a verified negative rather than a gap in our data — the only GAMSAT floor is 50 in each section. GPA 5.00 unweighted gets you in the door; selection then uses a weighted GPA and splits roughly evenly three ways across interview, GPA and overall GAMSAT.
Flinders takes applications directly rather than through GEMSAS. Note the split in its Indigenous provision: the Indigenous Entry Stream requires no GAMSAT at all, while the separate ATSI sub-quota of up to five places does.

How Flinders scores the GAMSAT
This institution uses ACER's published overall score.
| Scoring method | Formula used | What that means for you |
|---|---|---|
| ACER's weighted overall score | (S1 + S2 + 2 × S3) ÷ 4 | The overall score printed on your ACER statement of results. Section 3 counts double. This is the default across the market, which is exactly why the institutions that depart from it catch people out. |

Where the GAMSAT sits in the decision: Roughly 33:33:33 — interview, weighted GPA, overall GAMSAT.
Every figure this institution publishes
Each figure carries the kind of number it is and the year it applies to. They are not interchangeable.

Pathways where the GAMSAT is waived entirely
Flinders admits through a pathway that require no GAMSAT score at all.
- Indigenous Entry Stream — no GAMSAT required
Eligibility for these pathways is decided by Flinders, not by a score, and the criteria are specific. If you may qualify, contact the university directly — this is the least-documented part of GAMSAT admissions anywhere, and it is not something to rule yourself out of on the basis of a summary.
Sub-quotas and adjustments
Places are not one undifferentiated pool. These quotas change which list you are ranked in.
- Rural ≥28% of SA places
- Humanitarian visa sub-quota
- ATSI sub-quota up to 5 (GAMSAT required)
What else you should know
The only Australian school publishing genuine cutoffs — and they span 18 points by sub-quota. There is no overall minimum to apply (verified negative).
Common questions about Flinders
Does Flinders publish a GAMSAT cutoff?
Yes. 74 (Standard (non-rural)) for 2026 entry; 69 (Rural — Bedford Park) for 2026 entry; 63 (Flinders graduate) for 2026 entry; 56 (Humanitarian visa) for 2026 entry. A cutoff is the lowest score actually admitted or invited to interview in that round, so it moves with the applicant pool every year.
What GAMSAT score do you need to apply to Flinders?
No minimum overall score is published, and at least 50 in each section. A GPA of 5.00 is also required. These are eligibility floors. Meeting them does not make you competitive.
Does Flinders use the weighted or unweighted GAMSAT score?
ACER's weighted overall score — (S1 + S2 + 2 × S3) ÷ 4. The overall score printed on your ACER statement of results. Section 3 counts double. This is the default across the market, which is exactly why the institutions that depart from it catch people out.
Can you get into Flinders without sitting the GAMSAT?
Through one pathway, yes: Indigenous Entry Stream — no GAMSAT required. Eligibility is set by the university, not by a score.
