Privacy policy

GAMSAT Practice Test (gamsatpracticetest.com) is the data controller for the limited personal information described below. Questions, requests and complaints go to hello@gamsatpracticetest.com.

The test runs entirely in your browser. There is no signup, no login and no account. We do not ask for your name, your email address, your university, your GPA or your GAMSAT history, either before the test or after it.

While you are taking it, your selected answers, your flagged questions and the time remaining are held in your browser’s memory so the page can display them. They are not transmitted to us and they are not written to a server. Close the tab or reload the page and that state is gone — which is inconvenient, and is the trade-off we chose.

Your score is calculated in your browser and shown to you. We do not receive it, cannot see it, and hold no record that you took the test at all.

We may eventually offer to email you something useful — a reminder before a sitting, or a new question set. If that exists, it works one way only:

• It is offered after your result, never before it. Your email address is not the price of seeing your score, and we will not put a form between you and the test.
• It is opt-in. No pre-ticked boxes, and no adding you to a list because you contacted us about something else.
• Every message carries a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes the address.
• We do not sell, rent or share email addresses. Not with preparation providers, not with universities, not with anyone.

The lawful basis for sending those messages is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time without giving a reason.

If you write to us about a correction, an accessibility barrier or anything else, we hold that message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it and to keep a record of the change. Corrections in particular become part of the audit trail behind a page.

The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running an accurate site and answering people who write to us. Corrections can be sent anonymously if you prefer — see corrections.

We set no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no cross-site identifiers. We do not run behavioural advertising, we do not sell audience data, and there is no ad network on this site.

If we ever set a cookie that is not strictly necessary to make the site work, we will ask for your consent first, in the jurisdictions where consent is required, and this page will list it before it is used.

We want to know which pages are read and where the site is failing people. We do not want to know who you are.

Any analytics we use is chosen on that basis: aggregate page-level measurement, no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, no selling of the data, and no attempt to identify an individual visitor. We will not join analytics data to anything else, because there is nothing else to join it to. If our analytics arrangements change materially, this section changes and the date at the top of the page moves.

The site runs on third-party hosting and content-delivery infrastructure. Like every web server, those systems process technical request data — IP address, user agent, the URL requested, timestamps — in order to deliver the page, protect against abuse and keep the service available. That processing rests on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site, and those logs are retained for a short operational period by the provider rather than being collected into any profile by us.

This means data may be processed on servers outside your country, including outside the UK, the EEA and Australia. Where that happens, it is done under the transfer safeguards offered by the provider.

This site links to ACER, universities, application bodies and, in places, to preparation providers and booksellers. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site under someone else’s privacy policy, and we have no control over what they collect.

Some outbound links may be affiliate links, which means the destination can record that you arrived from here in order to attribute a purchase. Those links are labelled at the point of the link. The rules are set out in the affiliate disclosure.

• Test answers and scores: not retained at all. They never leave your browser.
• Email addresses on a mailing list, if one exists: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
• Correspondence: for as long as needed to resolve the matter and record any resulting correction.
• Server logs: for the short operational period set by our hosting provider.

United Kingdom and Ireland (UK GDPR and EU GDPR).You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority — the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, or the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.

Australia (Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles). You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a complaint, you may refer it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Everywhere. We will not charge you for a reasonable request, and we will not ask why you are making it. In practice the honest answer for most people will be that we hold nothing about them, because they took the test and we never learned who they were.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@gamsatpracticetest.com. We may need to ask a question or two to be confident we are talking to the right person, and we will not ask for more identification than the request warrants.

GAMSAT is a graduate admissions test and this site is aimed at adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

The site is served over HTTPS. The strongest protection here is structural rather than technical: there is no database of candidates, no password store and no score history, so there is very little to lose. That is a deliberate design decision, not an accident of scale.

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change materially affects what we collect or why, we will say so on the page rather than rewriting it quietly — the same rule we apply to factual corrections.
