Is 60 a good GAMSAT score?
Yes. A 60 is above the average GAMSAT score, and it meets the published UK figures and most Irish cutoffs. In Australia, where GPA counts too, it is below most of the published interview figures.
The short version
A 60 overall sits at roughly the 63th to 68th percentile. It clears every published overall minimum we hold (15 of 15), and meets or beats 22 of the 33 published threshold figures in our dataset.
11 figures sit above it. A 60 is a workable score in the UK and Ireland, and a weak one for most Australian schools that publish a figure.

Where 60 sits among all candidates
ACER publishes no percentile table. Our estimate comes from the only peer-reviewed source on GAMSAT scores, Mercer et al. (2015), which puts the average overall score at about 57. That makes a 60 a little above average.
The same paper defines a typical entry score as an overall of at least 60 with at least 50 in every section. In 2014, 36.9% of candidates reached it. So a 60 is the score the authors treat as the usual entry level, provided no section is below 50.
The full model, and how it compares with real ACER charts, is on GAMSAT percentiles.

Check the type of each figure. A minimum lets you apply. A cutoff is the lowest score that was actually admitted or interviewed.

What a 60 means in each country
- Ireland. At UCC, UCD, UL and RCSI, EU applicants are ranked on GAMSAT alone. The latest Irish cutoffs we hold run from 56 to 62, and a 60 met 3 of the 4. Cutoffs move each year with the applicant pool. See GAMSAT in Ireland.
- UK. The published UK cutoffs and minimums we hold run from 49 to 65, and a 60 meets 15 of the 17. Most UK schools also set a minimum score in each section, so check those as well as your overall. See GAMSAT in the UK.
- Australia. Most schools rank you on GPA and GAMSAT together, so a 60 can work with a very high GPA. The interviewee and admitted averages Australian schools publish run from 65.33 to 68.53, and Flinders’ standard cutoff is 76. Work out your combined position with the GPA and GAMSAT calculator.
Check your section scores too
20 of our 33 course records set a minimum score in each section. A 60 overall with one section below that floor does not meet the entry requirement. 11 records also calculate the overall score differently from ACER, so run your scores through the score calculator.
Common questions
What percentile is a GAMSAT score of 60?
Is 60 enough for medicine in Ireland?

Is 60 enough for medicine in Australia?
Should I resit with a 60?
It depends on where you are applying. A 60 is often enough in the UK and Ireland and often not in Australia. See should I resit the GAMSAT.
